Question:
I have another question. I was wondering if anyone knew of any
natural remedies for allergies that cause a sinus reaction. Stuffy head and
nose, ear aches etc. Please let me know.
Answer:
I found a wonderful homeopathic remedy for allergies. It literally allowed
me to keep working rather than stay home for the entire spring and summer in
Seattle.
It is produced by Natra-Bio and comes in different bottles, one for
Hayfever, one for Allergies. The bottles list slightly different symptoms
and you can decide which one would work best for you. We have had excellent results controlling allergy symptoms with
Michael's ALR. You should be able to find it at a local health food store. Moses here: You will like this comment, Fox. I found vitamin C to be
largely ineffective for seasonal rhinitis. I tried it at nearly ALL
possible doses. It might help recovery after a person has become
inflamed and then has added in either a nasal steroid or has gotten away
from the allergen. You will hate this comment. I tried niacin at those large risky doses.
It shut the allergy off ....it had a powerful drug (nothing wrong with a
drug effect, get over your Bill Bennett attitude at the word "drug"). It
also had side effects such as it could turn me rather red...hot flash
at times. Still I didn't trust it as safe. The nasal steroids
(Nasalcrom) seemed like a safer albeit not risk free option. (You'll
love this product because there a Drug company to defend this product.)
These days my allergies are quite mild. Of course, I take many those
vitamins you, Barrett, Lizzy Whelan (the PCB, Pb, DDT, DDE lover)
disapprove of.
I use Ginko Biloba myself. Most people don't usually think of Ginko
as an herb that helps allergies but it has helped me tremendously. James Duke Ph.D. says it would be his first choice for allergies.
"The leaf extract of the stately Ginko tree contains several unique
substances (ginkolides) that interfere with the action of a chemical
that the body produces---platelet activating factor, or PAF. PAF
plays a key role in allergies, asthma, and inflammation." pg. 40 "The
Green Pharmacy", James A. Duke. PH.D.
From my own experience I would have to agree. But it can take up to
12 weeks to notice a difference. I tried nettles first and alot of
people swear by it, but it did not seem to help me at all.
