msg allergy?

Question:
My mother has been having some heart attack symptoms (had it thouroughly checked out and her heart is fine!). She suspects MSG, the doctors said it was probably just severe gas. Does anyone here have problems with MSG? what symptoms? where can I go for more documentation?

Answer:
I also was having heart attack symptoms. The Doctor did tests and my heart was good. Later I found out I had a glucose intolerence. When I ate sugar or fruit I would get chest pains and have extreme fatigue soon after. I started taking digestive enzymes and eat sweets now with no symptoms. If there happens to be any symptoms I just take a couple more pills and they go away. I have tried ones with herbs in them as well but found I was allergic to the herbs. At this point, I don't care what anyone else says about MSG, it makes me VERY sick. There are those that will argue that it can't because Glutamate is a naturally ocurring substance produced by the body, but if I ingest enough of it I have the same reaction as someone allergic or intollerant to lactose. It took years for me to figure out because its in: soups, gravies, sauces, dressings, chips, cheesies, weaners, sausages, cold cuts ......... the list goes on and on. Its found in alot of processed foods. One thing I know for sure; if I'm real careful and avoid it, I'm symptom free. Try these: http://nomsg.com/ http://www.annapolis.net/members/holland/ It seems MSG is usually made from Soya (and my intollerance to Soya explains the reaction I get from MSG). Have you considered Soya as well? I hope for you it is not Soya though, because if you think the list of MSG containing products is large, wait to start looking for Soya.
