Histamine allergy (was Re: HAS ANYONE TRIED PAXIL?)

Question:
When they did my daughter's allergy tests a few weeks ago, they did 2 additional patches, one with sterile saline and one with histamine. The dr. said they do that to establish a baseline of a negative reaction (saline) and a positive reaction (histamine). He said everyone would have a reaction to histamine, although some more than others. I take her back to him next week for a follow up. Any questions raised/discussed here I will try to remember to talk to him about. He seems to be a really caring person who understood our frustration with Kaitlyn's continuous sinus/ear infections and tonsilitis, even while antibiotics.

Answer:
I too have had this problem since I was a child, while at Lackland AFB, TX [read: San Antonio] I went to Wilford Hall Medical Center, (Big Willy) and had them check this out for me. After being exposed to all of the allergens, I responded to histamine. Normally, they would have called my condition vasomotor rhinitus, but since I wasn't allergic to any of their pet allergens, they called it psuedo vaso-motor rhinitus. I have since read that people exposed to chronic pain eventually used up their sources of adrenilen , so the body substitutes histamine, which I am allergic to and that is what causes the runny nose, sinus and ear problems I have experienced lifelong. Can anyone else provide a better explanation? I would love to see it. A word of warning, after many sinus infections followed by sulfa, I began to get skin rashes, sensitive mouth lining, and such. Turned out I became allergic to sulfa drugs, the VA were unable to decide why I had a purple rings around my neck and waist, even after getting biopsies. The sore tongue and mouth were strange symptoms. The skin rashes should have been a clue to them. Now after so many sinus and ear infections, I hear these high pitches, and when all is quiet, except for the dog barking 2 blocks away and doors slamming 5 doors down the street, the ringing really becomes disconcerting, in addition to the supra-hearing. If I didn't have insomnia, the hearing aspects of fms would keep me awake. Where did the elavil go? Ear plugs are in order, but then the ringing would get louder.
