Question:
Can anyone recommend any web sites for recipes that are non diary, non egg?
I'm wanting to increase my collection of recipes that don't set off a food
allergy for me. I have (unfortunately) lots of other food allergies but I
find it hard finding good recipes that don't include the above.
Answer:
At my site I point to two FAQs: egg replacers and milk substitutes. The
best milk substitute for baking is DariFree. Come visit: http://www.panix.com/~donwiss/recipes.html
and then convert regular recipes.
I just bought a very good (apparently ) cook book that cooks without milk,
eggs, and other common allergens. My sister is using it now and I will
post the name of it when she returns it in a day or so. The book has
seemingly good substitutes for various allergens, eggs, milk, wheat flour,
etc. There are a couple of book stores on line that offer apparently good
discounts. book.com and amazon.com?. Check out the "Food Allergy Network" They have news letters, physician
sponsors, annual conferences around the states for food allergy sufferers.
They're a non-profit organization that's assembled recipe books; news
letters contain input from members based on things they successfully
experimented with. They're working with large companies getting food labels
changed, working with the FDA to expose hidden ingredients in things like
"natural flavorings", known to be composed of allergins.
