Claritin or allergy shots?

Question:
I've been taking Claritin for about 6 months now. I was also prescribed cortisteriod spray for my sinuses. However, I'm still taking an "afrin" like product because nothing dries up my sinuses immediately like they do. My doctor suggested that I get an annual allergy shot in place of all the above mentioned. The Claritin D seems to work for a while then fizzles out. Anybody out there been where I'm at and what do you suggest?

Answer:
I haven't been reading in thewebsite, lack of time I guess. :( I have allergies real bad too, and I was also taken cleritin-D..but it would not help me any more. I went to the doctor one week ago, and she gave me a shot of celestone, and it's working real good. I still have some sinus headaches, and sneeze every now and then, but I am much better now. Sure wished I would have know about that shot 2 yrs ago.. Celestone is a steroid, and it will typically stay in the body for 6 weeks. We generally don't like to use it because of the potential for side effects, especially when a nasal spray will generally work. Wellington S. Tichenor, M. D. 642 Park Avenue New York, New York
