Question:
My doctor is puzzled why my heart seems to be going downhill at an early
age....27.. During the last 6 months I have developed an enlarged
heart....and a heart disorder called a right bundle branch block... The
other blood tests, and echocardiogram comes back normal... My arteries look
clear.. But when i'm around my cat my heart beats faster and I get difficulty
breathing sometimes....i have a +5 allergic reaction to the cat... I'm
thinking the only thing that should be affected is mostly my lungs.....But
could my heart be all messed up also from always being around this cat? He
is an indoor cat so his allergy is around all of the time.. I just never
heard of cat allergies causing anyone heart problems... Maybe the faster
beating of the heart is messing up my heart muscle?
Answer:
I don't know if allergies that are uncontrolled can cause an enlarged
heart and such, but it can certainly cause a fast heartbeat. That is
one of the symptoms for the kind of allergic reaction both my mother
and I have to some things. I know you love your cat, but why are you
still living with him? It sounds as if the only way you will have a
chance is to give him to a good home you trust and start the process
of getting rid of the cat dander around your house. I'd never give the cat away.....Even if it is was life threatening... love
him too much.. If one person would just say to me that the cat is affecting my heart and
could kill me.... then i would take this much more seriously....regardless
of what i said in the previous post.. I have no solid evidence that severe
allergies could affect the heart over time... Having a rapid heart beat is affecting the heart, and I very much
suspect that it could be causing the other problems. I have personal
evidence that allergies can cause rapid heart rates, and I think there
are studies showing that as well (Larry might know whether there are
or not). Cardiac enzymes (which are blood tests to show if a heart
attack has occured) and the electrocardiogram can only show if damage
has occurred, not if it is likely to occur. An enlarged heart is a
definite sign something is going very wrong... if other factors such
as a viral and bacterial diseases are ruled out, I would strongly
suspect your cat (especially since you have such a strong diagnosed
allergy to cats). What would happen to your cat if you had a sudden heart attack due to
the heart problems that you have currently been diagnosed with? It
might very well be kinder to your friend to give him to a good family
now.
i dont know what to do... Who would i go to , to rule out viral or
bacterial diseases? I have had yeast in my blood for a long
time..(candidiasis) But when i tell my doctors everything is related to
that, they laugh at me.. So your saying that blood tests and electrocardigram's are useless in trying
to predict a heart attack? Their only good for after it occurs?
I just called my stupid family doctor and the nurse answered and said its
highly unlikely its the result of the cat... She probably doesnt know sh*t
anyway... This is so aggravating... My chest and back hurt now....my heart
is acting weird.... If i go to the hospital, they will just do the same
stupid tests again and send me home...These doctors dont know anything..
They will only diagnose it if it seems mainstream....If it is not, then they
wont even touch it..
my diagnosis's starting at age 16:
allergies : age 16
systemic yeast problem in the blood : age 18
Psoriatic arthritis : age 22
Severe allergies airborne and foods : 24
Gilberts disease (liver- increased bilirubin levels) : age 25
Blephitis (eye) : age 25
Difficulty breathing at times : age 26
Allergy induced asthma diagnosed : age 26
Right Bundle Branch Block (heart) : age 27
Enlarged Heart : age 27 (diagnosed 2 weeks ago)
I also still have high yeast levels in the blood.. Cant seem to get them
down no matter what..
by the way , the cat was introduced to the house when i was 25.
