Question:
As I mentioned before, my biggest problem was sleeping at night with my
congestion. I cured this by taking a shower before I went to bed and
washing all the pollen off me, including my hair. While in the shower,
I brough a cup with me and filled it with warm water, and some salt.
This sounds gross, but it works. Pour some in your hand, and sniff it
up your nose. The salt and warm water clears your nose and rids it of
pollen. I'm not crazy, try it. It works. After I dried off, I went
and used the NasalCrom which keep relatively congestion free. I still
had a little trouble sleeping straight through the night, but a couple
of Melatonin tablets (you can get them at GNC) fixed that.
What did not work for me at all was, Benadryl, Tavist-D, Nyquil, or
sleeping with those surgical masks on my face (I'm telling you I was
desperate for relief).
Well, good luck. The only reason that I am writing this, is because
when I was suffering, I was hoping that I would find something like
this to help me out. As I said before, I am no expert, this is just
what worked for me. This is an attempt, feeble as it may be, to help
anyone out who suffering from allergies, so please don't send me any
hate mail or the like. If this has helped, or you have any further
suggestions for allergy relief
Answer:
You mentioned using Claritin-D in your earlier article, and also said that
despite Benadryl and Tavist-D you had trouble sleeping. I know that you
were able to discover other techniques to induce sleep, but you might have
found it a bit easier if you had eliminated preparations at bedtime that
include decongestants ( the "D" part of the above meds). All decongestants
have a tenmdency to disturb sleep patterns. Tavist-D or Claritin-D earlier
in the day and Bendryl (a sedative for about 50% of people) at bedtime
might make things less complicated for you. Saying this, I am not
suggesting that the other things you tried are not of value.
I share this allergy. IMO, your paramedic friend is giving you sound
advice. Check out the following web site, found by an Altavista search

penicillin allergy - what you can do
1. Yes, the next time you could go into anaphylactic shock and die. 2. The bracelet ID is a good idea. It saved my husband's life last
year.
Makes me wonder if this is the antibiotic of choice for our food chain via,
cattle, chickens, lamb, pigs, etc.
I have had a problem with this antibiotic and several others since
childhood.
