Question:
Has anyone gotten allergy immunotherapy while on Remicade?
I would like to know if there were any problems.
Answer:
I have been getting allergy injections since I'm 16 (which means for the
last 17 years). I am also on an antihistamine and decongestant. I have
never had any difficulties with Remicade because of this. I will be
going for my 10th infusion Nov. 9. I was worried that an increased immune reaction would
occur with the allergy shots; but, since allergy shots actually "kill"
off immunoglobulins by overstimulation with the antigen and not T
cells, there is probably no problem as you say. I haven't chatted with you in such a long time. I'm so sorry to
hear that you're still having problems. I'm not hiding.....I'm just usually on in the early morning. Or
I forget to go into AIM. But, when I do you aren't on. I took allergy shots for years, but completed them about five years before I
was ever treated with Remicade. I have to take a Benadryl tablet before I get
Remicade; otherwise I'll get red and feverish. I don't know if that helps
you.
