Can Irrigation cure post nasal drip?

Question:
I've recently ordered a Hydro Pulse, the Grossan tips and Breathe-Ease XL and am hoping at best for some relief for my mild clogged sinuses and post nasal drip. But is it possible for this machine to actually CURE such a problem? Meaning that if I use the product a few times daily over the course of a few months will I be able to put it in my closet until the problem arises again in the future?

Answer:
Post nasal drip is a condition where the cilia of the nose / sinuses are slow. Instead of beating at 16/ sec to move the mucus, they beat considerably slower. This the mucus lays there like a stagnant stream and like a stagnant stream bacteria mulitply, smells, etc. One the mucus is quite thick and viscous, then this in addition impairs the cilia movement. Hydro Pulse acts as a more effective way to remove the thick mucus. This in itself helps restore cilia . In addition the pulsation at the rate of the HP device also move the cilia back and forth in a rhythm to restore the cilia function. In addition, bacteria form a biofilm protective layer that prevents natural healing to get to the bacteria. Hydro Pulse is helpful here too. My Post Nasal Drip patients generally clear in 2 weeks and then they can put the Hydro PUlse away. It could also indicate chronic sinusitis deep in the sinuses (or infection elsewhere in the area). Personally I think you need to find out if that may be the case, especially if the drip does not clear readily with irrigation etc. As we've discussed before, the exact same thing can occur with the LOWER respiratory tract. In particular, smoking can really do a number on the cilia in your lungs and trachea. So can bronchitis. Highly unlikely. Any kind of irrigation (doesn't have to be those particular products, by the way, although they are heavily marketed on this website) will help wash out the buildup of phlegm, which can help with post nasal drip. For real bad thick PND, I sometimes find it useful to irrigate my throat after irrigating my nose, to actually wash out the thick buildup from the throat. But it isn't a "cure", just helps the symptoms, washing away the buildup. I have been irrigating for many years, couldn't live without it (as I get so filled up with thick junk I couldn't breathe without washing it out), but I certainly haven't been "cured". I would guess that the same goes for many members of this website, many of whom have been writing here for years, have been irrigating for years, but certainly don't seem like they have been "cured". How are you defining Post Nasal Drip? sinusitis with drainage down the back of the throat is NOT PND the codition. PND refers to a simple slowing of the cilia so that the mucus is thickened. PND can also be defined as a symptom and can include Chronic Sinusitis Allergy Chemical Toxicity etc. but the Condition called PND is a simple slow cilia one and does respond to getting the ciia moving at the correct rate of speed. Treatment includes hot tea, compresses and pulsatile irrigation. It often takes two weeks. Some have cleared in less than that two, just with the tea. Allergy to cat is NOT cured by this.
