Fighting cat allergy: cats-not-causing-allergy and air purifiers ?

Question:
I have a problem - I love cats and I'm allergic to them. Here are a couple of crazy solutions, let me know what you think. I heard rumors that there is a breed that does not cause allergic reaction. Can anybody confirm or deny this? There is a commercial on TV now about Sharper Image Ionic Air Purifier
(http://sharperimage.com/us/en/catalog/productview.jhtml?pid=175000&pc... they claim it helps against cat allergies also. Allergy Buyers Club has a page on different anti-allergy products here: http://www.allergybuyersclub.com/solution-cat.html and they rated HEPA air purifier as "excellent" and intended "For those with serious allergies who need best filtration". Anybody had any experience with purifiers? I think my allergy is mild. The TV ad I mentioned offers 2 months money back guarantee so I'm thinking about "borrowing" :) a cat (or two) for two months and try using Sharper Image purifier...

Answer:
I am allergic to cats and have not problem with siamese. Others have said that siamese cats bother their allergies more than others. We have one of those. Works great as long as you keep vacuuming and cleaning the surfaces the cats walk/lay/live on. The smaller ones are great for bathrooms, etc. A bit spendy but I like 'em. You need to clean them more often as they get on in age though, because the dirt clogs up the outside holes. One thing is, cat allergies are known to grow less the more you are exposed. I always test very allergic, and I've had cats since I was a very small child. So, I can attest to this theory. As long as I wash my hands and face after handling a cat I am fine, don't allow them on my pillow (much), vaccuum weekly, etc., I barely even sneeze. There are also products you can get from your allergy doctor such as nasacort, which is a nasal spray that has no side effects (for me anyway) and reduces the allergic reaction with sniffling nose, etc. Works great for the residual allergy I may have towards cats. "Certain cat breeds have a decreased tendency to provoke an allergic reaction. The Balinese, Cornish Rex, Devon Rex, Javanese, Oriental Shorthair, Siamese and Sphynx breeds are all considered to have this trait.
" I have cat allergies, but I don't have problems with siamese. I was at a siamese breeder's house that had about 20 cats and I didn't have one bit of a problem.
